HAVE YOU BEEN BENCHED BY A SPORTS INJURY?

Sports injuries can affect any part of the body, in any participant of any age, from walkers to weight-lifters. At the height of play, a slight sprain, strain, or twist may go unnoticed, and then become evident once the player has cooled down. Acute pain is always an indicator of something wrong, and redness and swelling should be investigated. Sports injuries may only become evident later on as repeated stress on one particular body part eventually leaves its mark.

Given the intensity of training demanded by some sports, early diagnosis and treatment can make a vital difference to the length of downtime for the athlete! This is especially true with stress fractures.

Don't hesitate to see an orthopaedist who specializes in sports medicine if you have suspicious pain after your game!
