MY ACHING FEET!

"The foot" officially starts below the ankle bone and includes everything forward, up to and including the toes and toe nails. Each foot is a very complex structure of 26 small bones, 33 joints and 20 muscles all supported by two arches. The transverse arch runs across the ball of the foot and the longitudinal arch runs lengthwise. When healthy, these two arches along with the heel bone, support the weight of your entire body!

It is important to wear shoes that do not impede the marvelous natural function of your foot. Cramped toes can lead to blisters, corns and calluses. Skin and nail infections can develop and plantar warts need special attention from a physician. Bone growths such as bunions and bunionettes may need surgery to correct. Other conditions such as hammertoes and chronic heel pain should be professionally evaluated to decide appropriate treatment.

See a podiatrist if you have problems with your feet. Ask advice on your type and size of shoes and on treatments and exercises you can do to keep your feet ship-shape!
